Un estudio efectuado por el Instituto de Neurociencia de la Universidad de Princeton (EE.UU.) confirma que mantener relaciones sexuales reduce el nivel de estrés y promueve la neurogénesis (generación de nuevas células cerebrales).
Así lo reveló un estudio de la doctora Benedetta Leuner quien en una investigación que se efectuó con ratas adultas, detectó dicho beneficio.
Los animales fueron expuestos a situaciones sexualmente receptivas una vez (aguda) o una vez por día durante 14 días (crónica). Luego, se midieron los niveles de circulación glucorticoide.
Los resultados mostraron que las relaciones agudas aumentaron los niveles de circulación corticoide y el número de neuronas en el hipocampo. En cuanto a la experiencia sexual crónica, ésta "dejó de producir un incremento en los niveles corticoides, pero continuó promoviendo la neurogénesis y la conexión entre las células nerviosas. Además, también redujo el comportamiento relacionado con la ansiedad", explicó la investigadora, según la revista Amor y Sexo.
A partir de estas conclusiones, y teniendo en cuenta que las relaciones humanas son aún más complejas que las de estos animales e involucran otras áreas, es muy posible que también en nosotros las neuronas se multipliquen. La ciencia y la pasión lo confirmarán.
