El dato fue confirmado por los doctores Walkarina Sánchez, coordinadora del Programa de la Dirección Provincial de Salud (DPS) y elencargado del Programa VIH- SIDA y de los Servicios de Atención Integral del Hospital Pascasio Toribio Piantini, doctor Luís Almánzar.
Recomendaron a los diferentes grupos sociales acercarse a las autoridades para, entre todos diseñar una gran campaña a fin de disminuir la tasa de infecciones en la provincia Hermanas Mirabal.
Entrevistado en el programa La Prensa en TV, que conduce y produce el periodista Rafael Santos, expresaron que de esos más de 300 personas, solo 162 se encuentran dentro del Programa del VIH que desde hace varios años se viene desarrollando en el Hospital Pascasio Toribio Piantini, que dirige el doctor Luís Almánzar.
Almánzar dijo que dentro del programa se le brindan todos los servicios a los pacientes que han sido detectados con el VIH.
“En verdad que como manejadores del tema del VIH en esta provincia, nos sentimos preocupados, sobre todo por el nivel de crecimiento que en los últimos años vemos que lleva este virus”, agregó.
Manifestó que la población en sentido general tiene que tomar serios controles y sobre todo conciencia de que el Sida no es un mito.
El galeno puso como ejemplo que solo durante la semana del 4 al 11 del mes de febrero del presente año 2012, se detectaron mediante análisis clínicos, 6 casos nuevos, por lo que de inmediato se sometieron al programa para mejorar o controlar el temible virus.
De su lado la coordinadora provincial de Programa, Walkarina Sánchez, dijo que desde la DPS se están tomando todas las medidas de lugar a fin de crear algún tipo de conciencia en la población, de manera especial, en los jóvenes y adolescentes que son los que mayores riesgos corren en estos momentos.
Lugares vulnerbales
Entre los lugares que son más vulnerables al VIH/Sida figuran en la parte urbana, los barrios Rabo Duro, San Lorenzo así como los sectores Los Mangos, El Matadero y Las Mercedes, respectivamente, mientras que de las zonas rurales, citaron la comunidad de El Rancho Arriba y Palmarito.

De los tres municipio, el que presenta mayor número de personas con este virus es Salcedo, seguido por Villa Tapia y luego Tenares.
