El presunto narcotraficante fue identificado como Juan Rafael Mota Cedeño, nativo de Higüey, quien fue entregado a oficiales federales en el Aeropuerto Internacional Las Américas (AILA) y sacado del país en el vuelo 47788 de American Airlines, con destino a San Juan de Puerto Rico, dice un comunicado de prensa.
Mota Cedeño enfrenta cargos por presunta “asociación delictuosa por posesión y distribución de cinco kilos de cocaína y un kilo de heroína”, en violación del título 21 del Código de Justicia de los EEUU. Fue arrestado a requerimiento de Procuraduría General de la República, comunicó Roberto Lebrón, oficial de prensa de la DNCD.
Explicó que también se le acusa de “asociación delictuosa para importar drogas en el territorio de los Estados Unidos”, estupefaciente del que ocupado una parte, conforme dicen los documentos remitidos a las autoridades dominicanas y que fueron evaluadas por la Suprema Corte de Justicia, a petición del Ministerio Publico.
Mota Cedeño fue detenido por la DNCD hace varios meses cumpliendo con la orden de arrestado emitida por el Departamento de Asuntos Internacionales y Extradiciones de la Procuraduría, a cargo de la magistrada Gisela Cueto González. Ese mandamiento fue emitido después de la SCJ emitir la resolución 2471-2012, el 20 de junio de 2012.
El expediente acusatorio está registrado en la Corte del Distrito de los EEUU en Puerto Rico con el número 10-114 (CCC), documento remitido a las autoridades dominicanas, vía diplomática, como elementos probatorio de los cargos que pesan contra este ciudadano dominicano reclamado en extradición por narcotráfico internacional.-
