Más de medio centenar de autobuses, minibuses y microbuses que ofrecen servicio en rutas del Gran Santo Domingo y la región Este hacia el Distrito Nacional han sido baleados y apedreados en los últimos dos fines de semana, denunció este lunes la Unión Nacional de Transportistas y Afines (Unatrafin).
El profesor Arsenio Quevedo, presidente de Unatrafin, pidió a las autoridades intervenir para frenar a los vándalos que rompen los cristales a los vehículos y producen heridas a pasajeros a bordo de los mismos.
Afirmó que por los actos de vandalismo Unatrafin y los operadores de las rutas afectadas han tenido que invertir más de medio millón de pesos para reponer los cristales destruidos y corregir otros daños sufridos.
“No nos vamos a atemorizar, seguiremos ofreciendo nuestros servicios a los usuarios y a la ciudadanía, sin responder a quienes nos agreden, pero, advertimos que nos defenderemos y defenderemos nuestros intereses, nuestras rutas y a nuestros dirigentes”, precisó Quevedo.
En rueda de prensa en el restaurant Vizcaya, acompañados de decenas de dirigentes de Unatrafin y operadores de las rutas afectadas, dijo que han llevado la denuncia a la Policía y esperan que las autoridades actúen en consecuencia.
“No vamos a caer en provocaciones, somos gentes de paz, y aunque tenemos sospechas de quiénes cometen estos hechos vandálicos, no responderemos las agresiones. Estamos reponiendo los cristales rotos y si se nos agotan los recursos, colocaremos a las guaguas plásticos y hasta cartones si es necesario. Pero pedimos a las autoridades protección y actuar contra nuestros agresores”, señaló Quevedo.
El presidente de Unatrafin dijo que hasta el momento a la ruta 88, que ofrece servicio en el corredor Charles de Gaulle, desde el puente Juan Carlos hasta Los Guarícanos, han sido interceptadas varias unidades, le han roto cristales a 22 microbuses, le tirotearon una terminal del kilómetro nueve y medio de la autopista Las Américas y le han causado graves daños materiales.
Igual ha ocurrido con autobuses y minibuses que cubren la ruta Santo Domingo-Sabana de la Mar-La Romana-Higüey-Hato Mayor-El Seibo-Miches, y otras demarcaciones de la región Este, porque algunos choferes se niegan a que esas unidades tomen y dejen pasajeros en San Pedro de Macorís.
