De inmediato, la orden fue ejecutada por el fiscal adjunto Juan Antonio Mateo Ciprián del Departamento de Alta Tecnología de la Fiscalía, momento en que el bachatero salía del Séptimo Juzgado de la Instrucción, donde se le conocía medida de coerción en torno a otra demanda presentada por Teodoro Rodríguez, quien alega que el cantante le plagió el tema “Me quiero morir”.
En torno a ese caso la jueza Evelyn Torres rechazó imponerle como media de coerción garantía económica de tres millones de pesos que pedía el Ministerio Público en efectivo, impedimento de salida y presentación periódica,
Pero vaya sorpresa. Momentos en que Anthony Santos, en medio de la ovación de sus seguidores, ofrecía declaraciones a la prensa en el Palacio de Justicia, fue apresado por el fiscal adjunto y conducido a la cárcel preventiva, ubicada en la cuarta planta.
La orden de arresto fue presentada por el fiscal adjunto Germán Vásquez Sosa, director del Departamento de Alta Tecnología quien fue apoderado de la demanda presentador Manuel Modesto Cabreras (Ney Nilo), quien reclama 15 millones de pesos, tras alegar que santos le plagió los temas “el mensaje” y “mi triste carta”.
De inmediato Carlos Balcácer y Carlos Olivares, abogados de Santos, adelantaron que depositarán un recurso de hábeas corpus a los fines de lograr la libertad de su defendido, tras considerar que el arresto es una retaliación porque él apoyó a Hipólito Mejía en las pasadas elecciones.
Balcácer dijo que incluso el presidente Leonel Fernández llegó a llamar a Anthony Santos lamentando la situación cuando se enteró que contra éste se habían querellado por plagio.
