Los muertos en la balacera fueron identificados como Leonel Ruiz Montero y Héctor Bienvenido Báez Santana o Héctor Rafael Guzmán Jiménez.
Las víctimas del accidente fueron William Encarnación, de 34 años de edad, y Carlos de Jesús, residentes en El Valiente, de La Caleta, municipio de Boca Chica.
Los dos hombres ocupaban una camioneta Honda, cargada de uvas y manzanas que se desplazaba en dirección oeste-este por la marginal cuando fue chocada por la jeepeta, luego del tiroteo.
Montero conducía la jeepeta y Guzmán Jiménez ocupaba el asiento delantero derecho. Este último tenía dos cédulas de identidad, una expedida en San Pedro de Macorís y otra en Santo Domingo.
De acuerdo a versiones recogidas en el lugar del suceso, de los más de veinte disparos hechos, la Policía Científica encontró un sólo casquillo. Los disparos habrían sido hechos desde el interior de un carro Honda, azul, según vecinos del lugar. La jeepeta que ocupaban las víctimas exhibía una placa oficial que habría sido robada al Ministerio de Hacienda.
La Policía halló en una gaveta de la jeepeta 5 celulares y 4 chips para esos aparatos. Hallaron además sellos gomigrafos pre tintados del Ministerio de Hacienda y varios formularios en blanco, timbrados y sellados de la Fiscalía de la provincia de Santo Domingo. A la escena del crimen acudió un contingente policial encabezado por el mayor general Héctor García Cuevas y el general de brigadaLudwig Suardí, comandante policial de la Provincia Santo Domingo.
