La víctima fue identificada como Milton Radhamés Tejeda Arias (Cachet), de 56 años, quién se dedicaba a la venta de frutas en el mercado municipal de Bani.
El cuerpo sin vida de Tejeda Arias presentaba una herida de contacto, con orificio de entrada en la región frontal derecha, sin salida, provocada con un arma de fuego cañón corto, lo que le ocasionó fractura y hemorragia intracraneal con lesión cerebral, según diagnóstico del médico legista Walter López.
Aunque todo parece indicar que se trató de un suicidio, el médico legista envió el cadáver al Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Forenses, en la Provincia de Azua, para fines de necropsia.
Al lugar del hecho se presentaron, el fiscal adjunto, Miguel Cuevas y agentes de la Policía Científica, tomando las huellas dactilares del fallecido y buscando evidencias en el vehículo y áreas circundantes donde fue hallado el comerciante.
El magistrado Miguel Cuevas informó que el revólver que portaba el comerciante de manera legal, no apareció en la escena del crimen, por lo que se presume que fue robado por alguna persona. Además, el cristal del lado del conductor del carro marca Volswaguen Jeeta, color vino placa A-333116, fue destruido con una piedra. En los bolsillos del pantalón fue encontrada la cartera con una determinada cantidad de dinero. Llevaba puesto un reloj y un anillo, los mismos fueron entregados a sus familiares.
El representante del Ministerio Público dijo que proseguirán con las investigaciones para determinar las causas reales que originaron este lamentable caso.
Santo Julio Lara Arias, amigo de Milton Radhamés Tejeda, solicitó a los encargados del Departamento de Investigaciones Criminales de la Regional Sur Central de la Policía, con sede en esta ciudad de Bani, que investiguen una llamada realizada anoche y que el occiso recibió en su celular, mientras visitaba una "novia" en el barrio El Maní, lo que provocó que éste se irritara y estrellara el teléfono violentamente al piso.
De su lado, Milcíades Bobadilla, cuñado de la víctima, hizo un llamado a la Policía y al Ministerio Público para que determinen si manos criminales actuaron en la muerte. Dijo que el comerciante vivía en la casa de su madre y que se dirigió temprano de la mañana al mercado municipal donde operaba una mesa con la venta de frutas desde hace varios años.
Otros comerciantes al notar la ausencia de su compañero, procedieron a indagar con familiares cercano, sobre su paradero. En la búsqueda recibieron la infausta noticia de la "aparición" de un cuerpo sin vida dentro de un vehículo cuyas credenciales correspondían a su pariente.
