La Policía Nacional informó este domingo que un chileno penetró a la habitación del hotel Meliá Santo Domingo, en Gazcue, donde se encontraba hospedado el mánager del artista francés Richard Clayderman y sustrajo de la caja fuerte 16 mil dólares, 1,900 euros, tres tarjetas de crédito y dos pares de zapatos.
La institución del orden explicó que el hombre identificado como Williams Ignacio Díaz Santander, pasaporte número17.167.064-0, se presentó al lobby del referido hotel, alegando que se le había extraviado la llave de la habitación 900, donde se hospedaba el señor Tussaint Gilbert Oliver Charles Marie Urban, mánager de Cleyderman
Las autoridades del hotel le entregaron al supuesto chileno y huésped un duplicado de la llave de la habitación con la cual penetró a la misma y posteriormente llamó a la recepción indicando que la caja de seguridad no quería abrir con la copia que le dieron, por lo que pidió la asistencia de una persona de recepción, la cual le ayudo abrir la caja fuerte para supuestamente guardar unos documentos.
Según una nota de prensa, los investigadores de la Policía se comunicaron con las autoridades del Departamento de Inmigración del Aeropuerto Internacional de Las Américas para colocar impedimento de salida contra Díaz Santander, mientras que profundizan las investigaciones para apresar al responsable del robo.
El francés Charles Marie Urban reportó que a las 3:00 de la tarde del sábado salió del referido hotel y que cuando regresó, a eso de las 10:45 de la noche del mismo día, se percató que de una forma no esclarecida y sin ejercer violencia desconocidos penetraron a su habitación y sustrajeron del interior las sumas de US$16,500.00 dólares y EU$1,900.00 euros, tres tarjetas de crédito de diferentes bancos, y dos pares de zapatos color negro.
La institución del orden dijo, además, que la administración del hotel se responsabilizó por la situación y le pidió disculpa al artista, quien se presentó en el país en el Teatro Nacional, junto a Raúl Diblasio.
